On our visit to the area of Verona, we were charmed by Cristina and Carlo, the proprietors of Famiglia Orlandi, their olive oil production, and the history of their property.
Casal is made from a blend of olives, this pleasant, versatile oil pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes.
Light to medium fruitiness, defined by a prevailing note of green almond.
Delicate and balanced, with a pleasant peppery sensation.
Pairings: Fresh vegetable salads, white meats, delicately baked fish, fresh cheeses and pastries.
A historian of the village, also the co-author of the book "Illasi", was told by the prior owners of the farmhouse that it was used as a fort for American Soldiers during World War II. Bicycles, tobacco and weapons belonging to the US soldiers were found in the cellar.
